As a grandma, I’m always looking for fun projects to do with my grandkids. Who doesn’t love custom lip balm, especially when you can pick the color and flavor? This DIY lip balm recipe is simple, affordable, and chemical-free. It's perfect for crafting with friends, as a birthday party activity, or even to make as gifts!
Peppermint | Tea Tree | Orange | Grapefruit | Lemon
⚠ Use only flavor oils designed for lip balms – do NOT use food extracts!
⚠ Texture Note: Natural powders may slightly change the glide of your lip balm. Test small amounts first.
1️⃣ Heat the beeswax, butters, and liquid oils in a double boiler (see note below).
2️⃣ Remove from heat once fully melted and mixed.
3️⃣ Stir in essential oils, flavor oils, sweeteners, and colorants while still liquid.
4️⃣ Pour into lip balm containers or tubes before the mixture hardens.
5️⃣ Let cool until solid – then enjoy!
✔ Use a double boiler to prevent burning the beeswax. If you don’t have one, place a smaller pot inside a larger pot with water and heat gently.
✔ Hosting a party? Double or triple the recipe and separate into batches for different flavors and colors!
✔ If your mixture hardens before pouring, simply re-melt it in the double boiler.
DIY lip balm is fun, easy, and a great way to avoid synthetic ingredients. Whether for yourself, your kids, or as gifts, you’ll love this natural, nourishing alternative!
