The Art and Science of Handmade Soap: Why We Love Making It

For over 30 years, we’ve been handcrafting natural soap—not just as a product, but as a creative passion. Each batch is a work of art, combining luxurious oils and butters, natural additives like fruits, vegetables and beautifully blended essential oils.

We love experimenting, asking questions like:
💡 “What happens if I tweak this ingredient?”
💡 “How will this scent evolve during the soap-making process?”

Unlike mass-produced products, each handmade soap bar is unique—a blend of science, skill, and creativity.

How Handmade Soap is Made

Soapmaking is an ancient process, but modern techniques allow for precision and consistency. Here’s how we do it:

1️⃣ Mix lye and water – This creates a heat reaction and must be handled carefully.
2️⃣ Heat and combine oils – Each oil adds unique qualities: some create lather, others moisturize or harden the soap.
3️⃣ Blend lye water and oils – Once both reach the same temperature, we mix until it thickens (this is called "trace").
4️⃣ Add color, essential oils, or botanicals – This is where creativity shines!
5️⃣ Pour into molds & insulate – The soap must stay warm to get the best bars.
6️⃣ Cure for 3-4 weeks – Like fine wine, handmade soap gets better with age as it undergoes saponification, transforming all lye into a rich, moisturizing bar.

Handmade Soap vs. Commercial “Beauty Bars”

Did you know? Most store-bought “soaps” are actually detergents—they legally can’t be called soap!

🚫 Strips skin of natural oils
🚫 Contains synthetic foaming agents and chemical hardeners
🚫 Removes glycerin (a natural moisturizer) to sell separately
🚫 Loaded with artificial dyes and fragrances

Example of Commercial “Soap” Ingredients:
🧪 Sodium tallowate, sodium laurel sulfate, stearic acid, titanium dioxide, EDTA, BHT, synthetic colors

What’s in Our Handmade Soap?

  • Natural saponified oils: Coconut, olive, palm (sustainable), cocoa butter, castor oil
  • Essential oils & natural pigments
  • Silk proteins for added luxury
  • Glycerin (a natural moisturizer)
  • Botanicals like white willow bark, Himalayan salt, and tamanu oil
  • Fresh organic fruits & vegetables (like pumpkin, raspberries, and cucumber!)

Why settle for detergent when you can enjoy real, skin-loving soap? Try our handcrafted bars today and feel the difference!
